Lee University is the largest Christian university in Tennessee — a private, Church of God–affiliated school of about 5,000 students — and its compact campus sits just south of downtown Cleveland. The walkable centre is Pedestrian Mall, a tree-lined diagonal path running from the 1947 Old Main Building down to Centenary Avenue, with brick academic halls and the Conn Center on either side.
The campus is open to the public and pleasant for a wander, particularly when the dogwoods and magnolias bloom in April. The Squires Library holds a small permanent exhibit of religious manuscripts, and there is a free art gallery in the Humanities Center.
