Sewanee sits on the Cumberland Plateau at the junction of US-41A and Tennessee Route 56, about 45 minutes northwest of Chattanooga and just over an hour south of Nashville.
By car is the only practical option for most visitors. From Chattanooga, take I-24 west to Exit 134 at Monteagle, then US-41A south about 5 miles to Sewanee. From Nashville, take I-24 southeast all the way to the same Monteagle exit. There is no public transport to Sewanee.
Nearest airports: Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) is the closest at around 50 miles. Nashville International (BNA) is about 90 miles northwest. Both have rental car counters.
By train or bus: There is no practical public transit option. The nearest Greyhound stops are in Winchester and Chattanooga.
Parking on campus is generally straightforward — visitor lots are signposted near the main entrance on University Avenue. During graduation weekend in May, the small town fills up; book accommodation well in advance if visiting then.
