Sewanee Perimeter Trail

A 20-mile (32 km) loop trail tracing the rim of the Cumberland Plateau around the University of the South's Domain. The trail passes sandstone bluff overlooks, waterfalls, rock formations, and dense mixed hardwood forest, offering some of the best hiking on the plateau without requiring a long drive to a national park.

The full loop takes most hikers two days, but the trail is easily broken into shorter out-and-back sections from numerous access points on the forest roads that cross the Domain. The section from Bridal Veil Falls south to the Memorial Cross overlook is the most scenic short option and makes an excellent half-day hike.

The trail is maintained by the university and is open to students, faculty, and the public. Trail maps are available from the Outdoor Recreation office near the gymnasium on campus. Bicycles and horses are also permitted.
