Getting There

The Brazosport area is about 60 miles south of Houston via Highway 288, which connects directly to Lake Jackson in under an hour without traffic. The drive from central Houston takes 60–75 minutes. For beach access, continue south through Clute and Freeport to the coast.

There is no practical public transit from Houston to this area. A car is essential — and useful once you arrive, as the towns are spread out and the wildlife refuges, beach parks, and the open landscape require a vehicle to explore properly.

The nearest commercial airports are Houston's William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), about 55 miles away, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), about 90 miles away. Car rental at either airport is straightforward.
