The Little Grill Collective is a worker-owned cooperative restaurant that has operated in Harrisonburg since the 1940s (under various names and ownership). The current co-op model dates from the 1990s and the restaurant has become one of the city's most beloved institutions — a vinyl-booth diner with a counter, good coffee, and a menu that leans vegetarian and vegan while satisfying the unreconstructed meat-eater contingent.
Weekend brunch is the main event, with long queues after 9am. The place is small, loud, and community-minded. It has hosted countless local musicians and community events and is as close to a civic institution as a restaurant can be.
