Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) sits at the north end of the city and has limited but useful direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago and a handful of Florida cities, mostly on regional carriers. Most visitors flying in from further afield use Norfolk International (ORF), 25 miles south across Hampton Roads.
Newport News is on the Amtrak Northeast Regional, with through trains from Washington DC, Baltimore, New York and Boston pulling in at the small downtown station near the shipyard. Driving is straightforward — Interstate 64 runs the length of the Peninsula from Williamsburg through Hampton, with the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel onwards to Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
