Tony's Coffee has been roasting in Bellingham since 1971, making it one of the oldest specialty coffee roasters in the Pacific Northwest. The company supplies beans to dozens of local cafes and restaurants, but the flagship café on West Holly Street is the place to try the coffee at its source: espresso drinks made with freshly roasted beans, a relaxed atmosphere, and none of the corporate coffee chain trappings.
The roastery is visible from the café, and the smell of fresh roasting is part of the experience on production days. Tony's tends toward the lighter roast end of the spectrum — bright, fruity, and clean — which suits the Northwest style. This is the default coffee of Bellingham; most locals have a strong opinion on which Tony's blend they prefer.
