Bellingham's shopping is concentrated in Fairhaven and downtown. Fairhaven has the better independent stores — Village Books anchors a stretch of retailers on Village Green that includes galleries, outdoor gear shops, and specialty food stores. Downtown Railroad Avenue has been adding independent retailers alongside the restaurant scene. The Bellingham Farmers Market runs on Saturdays from April through December in the Depot Market Square and is excellent for local produce, Cascade honey, and artisan food products.
