Getting There

By road is the only practical way to arrive. US-97 is the main north-south highway through the valley, running from Wenatchee in the south through Okanogan, Tonasket, and Oroville to the Canadian border crossing at Osoyoos, British Columbia. From the west, Washington State Route 20 (the North Cascades Highway) connects at Twisp and Winthrop, providing a dramatic mountain approach that is closed in winter.

By air: there is no commercial service. Omak Airport, just across the river, handles small private aircraft only. The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Wenatchee's Pangborn Memorial Airport, about two hours south. Spokane International Airport is roughly three hours to the east and offers more connections. Both require a car rental to get to Okanogan from.

By bus: Greyhound serves the US-97 corridor with stops in the region. The service is infrequent and oriented toward practical travel between towns rather than tourism; check current schedules as service levels change.
