Okanogan's appeal is almost entirely the landscape around it. The town itself offers a small county museum and a handful of historic buildings, but the reason to come is access: to the Pasayten Wilderness on the west, one of the most remote and trail-rich wilderness areas in Washington; to the broad Okanogan Valley and its orchard roads stretching north toward Canada; and to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in every direction. The Colville Confederated Tribes have deep roots in the region, and the county museum covers both their history and the story of the settler economy that followed.
