Getting Around

On foot works for most of downtown Morgantown and the university's downtown campus, which are compact and walkable. Hills are real — the city is built on ridges above the river, and some walks involve genuine climbing.

The PRT connects downtown to the Evansdale campus and is the most interesting way to get around. It's useful if you need to get between the two campuses or to the stadium for a game. Runs on a fixed schedule during the academic year; reduced service in summer and on weekends.

Mountain Line Transit operates the local bus network across Morgantown. It's free to ride thanks to a WVU student fee subsidy — visitors can board without paying. Coverage is reasonable for the main corridors but won't get you everywhere.

By car you'll need one for Coopers Rock, Cheat Lake, and anything beyond walking distance from campus. Parking downtown is metered; lots near the stadium fill fast on game days.
