Sutton Lake is the practical outdoor anchor for a visit. The reservoir sits just east of town behind Sutton Dam, with boat ramps, fishing water, swimming areas, and wooded shores that feel much larger than the town beside them.
It is best in warm weather, when you can make the lake the main event rather than a quick overlook. Even on a shorter stop, the drive up to the dam and lake area gives Sutton a stronger sense of place than the interstate exit suggests.
