Oglebay Park

Sprawling hilltop park with gardens, zoo, and glass museum

A former private estate donated to the city in 1928, Oglebay is one of the most impressive municipal parks in the eastern United States. The grounds cover over 1,700 acres of hills above the Ohio River, with formal gardens, a small zoo, and several lakes. The centerpiece is Schenk Mansion, now a museum displaying period furnishings and local history. The park also has a glass museum — fitting for a city that was once a major glassmaking center. In winter it hosts one of the largest light displays in the country.
