The Usonian Inn — for years known as the Rest Haven Motel — sits on U.S. Highway 14 just north of Spring Green and was designed in 1955 by John Howe, Wright's chief draftsman at Taliesin. The low horizontal lines, wide overhangs and integration of native stone are a textbook example of Wright's Usonian principles translated to a roadside motel.
The building has been continuously operating as a motel since it opened and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Worth a brief stop for the architecture even if you are not staying — though if you are looking for a motel in Spring Green, this is the one with a story.
