Spring Green has two world-class attractions just out of town and a clutch of pleasant smaller things in the village itself. Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin estate, on a hillside south of the river, is the architectural pilgrimage — guided tours run from May through October. The House on the Rock, a few miles further south, is the opposite of Taliesin in every way: a sprawling, deeply odd collection-house that almost defies description. The American Players Theatre stages classical drama in a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre from June through September. Tower Hill State Park preserves a 19th-century shot tower above the Wisconsin River. And the village itself has a few Wright-designed buildings, a State Bank Building and a popular juried arts fair on the last weekend in June.
