The most European of Buenos Aires' neighbourhoods — wide boulevards, Haussmann-style buildings, and the city's most famous address, the Recoleta Cemetery. The narrow lanes of grand mausoleums contain most of Argentina's 19th- and 20th-century elite, including Eva Perón (her tomb is the one with the flowers). Nearby sit the Centro Cultural Recoleta, the Museum of Fine Arts, and a ficus tree that Borges used to walk past. Sunday is market day in Plaza Francia.
