Resistencia eats simply and well. The Chaco produces good beef and yacaré (caiman), and is close enough to Paraguay that chipá (cassava cheese bread), sopa paraguaya (a savoury cornbread) and grilled river fish — dorado, surubí — turn up on most menus. Expect Argentine parrilla (mixed grill) restaurants on every other block, plus a handful of pizzerias and a few good cafés.
The streets around the Plaza 25 de Mayo have the most restaurants; Charlie and Coco Vino are the standard reliable upmarket grills, both with the standard bife de chorizo and provoleta. For an unfussy lunch, the market stalls behind the Mercado Central serve empanadas and milanesas for less than five dollars.
