The whitewashed parish church on the plaza dates to 1641, rebuilt and extended several times since. Inside, a series of colonial paintings of the prophets — attributed to the Cusco school workshop of Marcos Sapaca Inca — survives in good condition.
The image of the Virgin of Candelaria is the focus of the town's biggest festival on 2 February, when processions, brass bands, and dancers in feathered headdresses fill the streets. The rest of the year the church is quiet and worth ten minutes if it is open.
