The centre and lakefront are easy on foot. Local buses and taxis cover short rides, including summer services toward nearby beaches, but a car makes the surrounding area much more flexible.
For the Seven Lakes road, Quila Quina, Chapelco, and the more remote Lanin National Park trails, independent wheels or a tour are the practical options. Gravel roads are normal; ask locally about conditions after heavy rain or snow.
