Summer, from December to March, is best for hiking, lake beaches, kayaking, and the Seven Lakes drive. Days are long and mild, though the weather can still turn quickly in the mountains.
Winter is ski season at Chapelco, usually from late June into September depending on snow. Spring and autumn are quieter and beautiful, but some services thin out and high routes can be muddy or snowy.
