Ushuaia – Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (USH) handles flights from Buenos Aires (Aeroparque and Ezeiza), Bariloche, El Calafate, and a handful of other Argentine cities. Aerolíneas Argentinas and LATAM both serve the route; Flybondi and JetSMART offer budget options from Buenos Aires. The airport is 4 kilometres southwest of the city centre, connected by remise taxis and shuttle buses.
Overland travel from the rest of Argentina requires crossing into Chile. The main route passes through Río Grande on the Argentine side of Tierra del Fuego, then crosses the Strait of Magellan by ferry at Primera Angostura, and re-enters Argentina via a second Chilean crossing before reaching Ushuaia. Bus services connect Ushuaia to Rio Gallegos and Punta Arenas, but journeys are very long — 12 hours or more to Punta Arenas.
Antarctic cruise ships, expedition vessels, and sailing yachts use Ushuaia as their departure point for expeditions south. The harbour handles substantial maritime traffic from October to April.
