Getting There

Jorge Wilstermann International Airport (CBB) serves Cochabamba with domestic flights from La Paz (about 40 minutes), Santa Cruz (30 minutes), and other Bolivian cities. International connections are mainly through La Paz or Santa Cruz.

Cochabamba is connected to La Paz by a good paved road across the altiplano (about 5–6 hours by bus) and to Santa Cruz by a longer route through the lowlands (about 9–10 hours). Buses are the most common intercity transport; several companies operate services from the main bus terminal on Avenida Aroma.

The city sits at 2,500 metres — notably lower than La Paz or Potosí — so altitude sickness is rarely a problem for most travellers, though you may still feel the elevation if arriving directly from sea level.
