The best swimming spot near Coroico. The river is crystal-clear with deep natural pools, and the walk there passes through orange groves, a hacienda, coca fields and riverside forest full of butterflies and birds. Once at the pools you can swim and picnic, or follow the river upstream to a small canyon with natural bubble baths.
A harder option is the four-hour trip downstream, passing the Rio Negro waterfall and its huge natural pool — the entire route follows the river through forest. You can reach the Pozas on foot, by taxi, on horseback or by bicycle.
