Jericoacoara has two distinct seasons. The wind season runs from August to January, when the northeast trade winds blow steadily and the beach becomes a playground for kitesurfers and windsurfers. This is technically the better time for active visitors: perfect wind conditions, slightly lower humidity, and no rain. It is also the busiest period, and accommodation prices reflect this.
The low season from February to July brings calm water, higher humidity, and occasional rain — the wettest months are March and April. The ocean is flatter and better for swimming, and the lagoons (Lagoa do Paraíso and Lagoa Azul) are at their most inviting. Village life continues much as normal; prices drop and beds are easier to find.
New Year and Carnival bring enormous crowds regardless of season. The days around New Year in particular are almost impossibly crowded and prices spike sharply — book months ahead or choose a different time. Easter is a secondary peak. Outside these events, Jeri manages its crowd levels reasonably well given its limited infrastructure.
