Carne de Sol do Picuí

One of João Pessoa's best-known traditional restaurants, specialising in the northeast classic: carne de sol (salt-cured beef) cooked over charcoal and served with manteiga de garrafa, feijão verde, and macaxeira. The portions are generous and the quality is consistent. It draws a mix of locals and visitors and gets busy at lunch on weekends.

Located in the Tambaú area, close enough to the beach to visit after a morning in the water. The restaurant is a good introduction to the regional cuisine of the interior — a counterweight to the seafood that dominates the beachfront kiosks.
