Cabo Branco beach runs south from Tambaú along the base of the famous white cliffs that give the cape its name. It is quieter and cleaner than Tambaú, backed by the dramatic falésias (cliffs) that turn orange and gold at sunset. A cycle path runs along the top of the cliffs, with excellent views out over the Atlantic.
The beach is a favourite with locals who want a calmer alternative to the promenade crowds. At the far southern end, the Cabo Branco Lighthouse and viewpoint mark the spot where the continent effectively runs out — the easternmost point of the Americas, and the place where João Pessoa earns its most unusual geographic distinction.
