About 25 kilometres south of João Pessoa, Tambaba is one of Brazil's few officially designated nudist beaches — a distinction it has held since the 1990s. The beach sits in a sheltered natural cove, flanked by dark cliffs and backed by Atlantic Forest vegetation. Only the northern section is open to clothed visitors; the southern stretch, accessed through a gate, is clothing-optional.
The setting is genuinely attractive regardless of dress code: the water is clear, the sand is clean, and the surrounding nature is intact. A second adjacent beach, Coqueirinho, is clothed and has some food stalls. Getting there requires a car or a long taxi ride — there's no direct bus from the city.
