Natal has a small metro system that is more useful for locals commuting to the suburbs than for tourists. For most visitors, the choice is between taxis, ride-sharing apps (Uber works well here), and buggy tours. Dune buggies are an institution in Natal — the flat-bottomed vehicles are the way to explore the coastal dunes both north and south of the city. Buggy drivers are easy to find near the main beaches and offer half-day or full-day tours.
The beaches south of the city toward Ponta Negra are easily reached by taxi or bus. The northern beaches, including Genipabu with its massive dunes, require a longer drive or a buggy excursion.
