Praia do Amor

Praia do Amor — Love Beach — sits at the south end of the village, reached down a steep wooden staircase from the cliff-top path. It is Pipa's surf beach: a long curve of pale sand with a consistent right-hand break that works well at most tides, popular with both Brazilian and visiting surfers. The water is warm year-round.

The cliffs above the beach are part of the ecological reserve, undeveloped and red-orange in colour; the sunsets seen from the top of the stairs are one of the village's set-piece pleasures. Two beach shacks at the south end of the sand serve grilled fish and ice-cold coconuts. The waves can get serious when an Atlantic swell is running; if you're new to surfing, take a lesson at Praia do Centro instead.
