Porto Seguro Airport (BPS) sits two kilometres from the centre of town and has direct flights from São Paulo, Rio, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, and several other Brazilian cities. In high season there are also charter and seasonal flights from Argentina and Europe. A taxi to the centre is short and inexpensive.
By bus, the long-distance terminal is on the outskirts of town with regular services to Salvador (12 hours), Rio (about 22 hours), and Belo Horizonte. The coastal road south continues to Arraial d'Ajuda (via the small car ferry across the river), Trancoso, and Caraíva; north it runs to Santa Cruz Cabrália and on toward Salvador via the BR-101.
