Eduardo Gomes International Airport

Manaus's airport, 14 km north of the centre

Eduardo Gomes International Airport (MAO) is the main gateway to Manaus and the entire western Amazon. Direct flights connect it to major Brazilian cities — São Paulo, Rio, Brasília, Belém, Recife — and seasonal international services to Panama City, Bogotá and occasionally Miami and Lisbon. Local airlines also fly small regional routes to towns up and down the river.

The airport sits about 14 km north of the centre, around 25–30 minutes by taxi or ride-hailing app in normal traffic. Cabs at the airport are metered. There is a city bus (numbered 813) that runs to the centro for the price of a regular fare, but it is slow and not built for luggage.
