After dark, Manaus drifts to the river. Ponta Negra beach is the city's open-air living room — a long boardwalk of bars, food kiosks, and live forró and brega bands on weekend nights. In the centre, the streets around the Teatro Amazonas fill with botecos serving cold Antarctica and grilled snacks, with Bar do Armando the long-standing meeting point. The newer scene clusters in Adrianópolis, where craft beer bars and cocktail lounges have opened over the past decade. Sundays are quieter than you might expect — most of the city retreats to the beach or the igarapés outside town.
