One of the most beloved parks in South America, Ibirapuera is where São Paulo comes to breathe. On weekends, joggers, families, and cyclists fill the winding paths around the lake. Free concerts sponsored by the city are a regular occurrence. The park contains three major cultural institutions — the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the Bienal pavilion, and the Oca — all designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The Japanese Garden on the south side is also worth a wander.
