Bar do Lurdinha

Beloved Santa Tereza boteco with cold beer and outsized petiscos

Bar do Lurdinha is the kind of corner bar that defines the Belo Horizonte botequim tradition — a small Santa Tereza spot with white plastic tables on the pavement, very cold beer (Antarctica or Original, in long-neck bottles), and a printed menu of petiscos that runs to twenty pages of fried, grilled, and stewed snacks.

It is reliably crowded most evenings, particularly at weekends when the queue can stretch around the block. Order the linguiça with cassava chips and a round of fried polenta. The cabines is the social heart of the Santa Tereza scene.
