Casa Bonomi started as a small artisanal bakery in Savassi and has expanded over the years into one of the most reliable cafes in the city. The bread is the headline — sourdoughs and rye and a country loaf that comes out warm in the late morning — but the cakes (especially the carrot with chocolate icing) and the savoury lunchtime menu are equally good.
The Rua Rio Grande do Sul branch has tables on the pavement and is a favourite weekday lunch spot for locals working in the area. Open from early morning to early evening, closed Sundays.
