Belo Horizonte has been one of the centres of the Brazilian craft beer movement for fifteen years, and Backer is the local brewery with the longest reputation. The brewery and its attached brewpub sit in the Olhos d'Água district on the western edge of the city — a fifteen-minute taxi ride from the centre.
The taproom has the full Backer range — Brown, Tripel, Trigo, and a rotating series of seasonal beers — plus a menu of bar food (sausages, pork knuckle, fries) designed to soak it all up. Saturday afternoons are particularly busy.
