Dona Lucinha is the Savassi outpost of a family-run comida mineira institution that began in the rural town of Serro. The restaurant serves a daily buffet of around forty traditional dishes from Minas Gerais — feijão tropeiro, frango ao molho pardo, leitão pururuca, costelinha de porco, doce de leite — eaten as much as you can pile onto a plate for a fixed price.
The quality varies a little dish by dish but the average is high, and the breadth of the buffet is the appeal. It is a useful introduction to the cuisine for visitors who do not know it. Open for lunch every day; dinners are quieter and less abundant.
