Praia de Ferradura

Ferradura — the name means horseshoe — takes its shape from the near-circular bay in which it sits. The headlands enclose the water almost completely, producing conditions that are calm and predictable even when other beaches on the peninsula are rough. The result is a beach popular with families and with anyone who prefers their swimming without the anxiety of surf.

The beach is larger than most in Búzios, with a long straight stretch of sand and clear shallow water extending some distance from shore. Equipment rental for stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and pedalos is available from several points along the waterfront. Restaurants and bars set up on the sand during the summer season, but outside peak months the beach is quiet enough that you can find real solitude at the far end.
