The Museu Mazzaropi is dedicated to Amácio Mazzaropi, the actor, producer, and filmmaker whose rural comic characters became hugely popular in mid-20th-century Brazil. The collection includes film equipment, sets, costumes, photographs, and objects from his productions.
It is a good stop even if you only know the name vaguely. Mazzaropi's work says a lot about how Brazil imagined the countryside, migration, and class in the years when cinema and television were reaching a mass audience.
