By air: Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (IGU), also called Cataratas International Airport, is located about 16 km southeast of the city centre, close to the national park entrance. There are direct flights from São Paulo (about 1h 45min), Rio de Janeiro, and several other Brazilian cities. International connections go via São Paulo. Buses and taxis connect the airport to the city; the official taxi service operates on fixed zones.
By bus: Long-distance buses connect Foz to São Paulo (about 16 hours), Curitiba (about 10 hours), and other Brazilian cities. The bus terminal is in the city centre. Buses also run to Puerto Iguazú in Argentina and to Ciudad del Este in Paraguay — most buses cross the border without you needing to change vehicles, but you do need to get out at both border posts to have your passport stamped.
From Argentina: Puerto Iguazú, directly across the Iguaçu River, has its own airport with connections to Buenos Aires. Many travellers base themselves there and cross into Brazil for the day. The border crossing is straightforward for most nationalities and buses run frequently between the two towns. Americans and some other nationalities need a visa to enter Brazil — check requirements before you go.
