Rua Coberta

The Rua Coberta — "covered street" — is the pedestrianised heart of Gramado, a short stretch of cobbled lane sheltered beneath a wood-and-glass canopy. It is lined with chocolate shops, beer halls, and souvenir stores; tables spill into the lane in the evening, and live music is common. It is touristy by definition, but the architecture is genuinely pretty and it makes a good place to start a wander through the town centre.

In December the street is decked out for the Natal Luz festival and looks the part. Outside the peak seasons it is calmer but still busy in the evenings.
