Pichilemu is the surf capital of Chile and Punta de Lobos, six kilometres south, is the wave that made it — a long left point break that holds serious size and hosts a big-wave event most winters.
The town beach is gentler and is where the schools teach. The water is cold all year: a 4/3 wetsuit is the minimum and most people wear boots.
