Barranquilla's nightlife is concentrated in the Zona Norte, particularly along Calle 70 and the surrounding blocks. This is where bars and clubs run from early evening to well past midnight, with cumbia, vallenato, and reggaeton competing from different doorways. During Carnaval the entire city becomes one continuous party, but the Zona Norte is the year-round anchor. The heat means cold beer is the default — cerveza fría and aguardiente are the city's drinks.
