Catedral Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Rosario

Colombia's tallest cathedral with twin neo-Gothic towers

The neo-Gothic cathedral on Plaza de Bolívar is the defining landmark of Manizales. Its twin towers rise over 100 metres, making it the tallest cathedral in Colombia. The structure you see today dates from the early 20th century — earlier versions were destroyed by fire and earthquake. The interior is relatively austere, but the scale and the setting at the heart of the city make it worth a look. Climb to the bell tower if it's open for views over the ridge and surrounding mountains.
