When to Go

Manizales has a mild climate year-round — expect temperatures between 14°C and 22°C most days, with the coolest nights in the wet season. Rain falls throughout the year but heaviest in April–May and October–November. The dry months of December–February and June–August are the most comfortable for hiking in Los Nevados, though weather in the park is unpredictable at any time.

Feria de Manizales (January) is the city's biggest annual event — a week of bullfighting, music, and street celebrations tied to the city's founding. It draws visitors from across Colombia and has a festive, slightly chaotic energy that transforms the normally quiet city centre.

Festival Internacional de Teatro (September) brings theatre companies from across Latin America and beyond to perform in the streets and venues around the city.

The bullfighting season runs during the January fair — for visitors who want to attend, or to avoid, this is the time to note.
