Getting Around

The historic centre is compact and walkable, but the ridge geography means walking between neighbourhoods often involves steep climbs and descents. Taxis are cheap and metered — flag one on the street or call an app.

The Cable Aéreo — Manizales' urban cable-car system — is the most enjoyable way to cross the city. The main line runs between the bus terminal (Cámbulos) and the historic centre, with stunning views over the valleys on either side of the ridge. There are also gondolas linking other neighbourhoods. A single ride costs roughly the same as a bus.

Local buses (busetas) are colour-coded by route and very cheap. For Los Nevados and Recinto del Pensamiento, take an organised tour or hire a taxi for the day.
