Getting There

By air — Manizales' La Nubia airport, perched on a ridge above the city, has the reputation of one of South America's trickiest landings: a short runway, frequent fog, and steep approaches. Flights from Bogotá run several times daily on Avianca and EasyFly when conditions permit; cancellations are common.

By bus — Manizales is well-connected by road. From Bogotá it is around 8–9 hours via Honda and Mariquita; from Medellín 5–6 hours via Pereira and Chinchiná; from Pereira 1.5 hours. The main terminal is below the central ridge, with a cable car (Cable Aéreo Manizales) linking it to the city centre.

By car — The drive up from the Magdalena valley climbs through coffee plantations and cloud forest and is one of the most scenic ascents in Colombia.
