Tubing

For visitors who want to be in the river without committing to the full intensity of a rafting trip, tubing offers a more relaxed alternative. Participants float the calmer sections of the Río Negro on large inflatable inner tubes, drifting through stretches where the current is gentle, the water is clear and the canyon scenery passes by at a pace that actually allows you to appreciate it. The occasional small rapid adds a burst of speed and a splash without the technical demands of a rafted Class IV drop.

Tubing is genuinely easy — no paddling skill, physical fitness or previous experience is required — which makes it a good option for mixed groups where some members are less comfortable in moving water, or for a second session in the afternoon after an energetic morning on the raft. Children who meet the minimum age requirements set by operators handle it particularly well.

Most operators include tubing within their multi-activity packages, or offer it as a standalone option at a lower price point than a full rafting trip. It is also a sensible choice during the higher-water periods of the rainy season, when some of the more technical rafting sections are adjusted or shortened.
