Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is small enough to walk. The waterfront, Playa Mann, the Interpretation Centre, and Frigatebird Hill are all reachable on foot from the main street within 20 minutes. The town's streets are flat and well-signed.
For sites further afield — El Junco Lagoon, La Galapaguera, Puerto Chino — you will need a taxi or a tour. Taxis are metered and inexpensive within the town; for out-of-town trips, agree the fare and a pickup time in advance. Most drivers speak basic English and know the main sites.
All boat-based excursions (Kicker Rock, Isla Lobos, Cerro Brujo, Punta Pitt) are booked through agencies on the main street or at the pier. Most operate day tours with fixed departure times in the morning. Comparing prices and checking boat sizes is worth a few minutes — a smaller boat with fewer passengers makes for a better wildlife experience but may be more expensive.
Inter-island boats (lanchas) to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz depart from the main pier, usually twice daily. The journey takes around 2.5 hours; the sea can be rough, particularly during the dry season (June–November). Bring a windbreaker and sit outside if the conditions are reasonable.
