Eating Out

Guayaquil's food scene is one of the best reasons to spend time here. Coastal Ecuadorian cooking — encebollado (a tuna and yuca soup eaten for breakfast), ceviche, seco de chivo (goat stew), and fresh seafood from the Pacific — is the local speciality. The Urdesa neighbourhood, a few kilometres north of the historic centre, is the most concentrated dining district, with restaurants lining Víctor Emilio Estrada Avenue.
